Hello there!
We are a group of Portuguese students, we live in Coimbra and study at Colégio da Imaculada Conceição. We are developing a project on Alzheimer’s disease and our name is Cerebrum (Latin for brain). There are five of us involved in this project. This blog is one of many ways of showing our work. We have recently decided to turn this blog into something international, so here we are publishing in both Portuguese and English so that we can get to the largest possible number of people throughout the entire world!~
Time for an update now. We have met a neurologist who works at Hospital dos Covões(CHC) and that is going to support our project during the year. We’ll be out on the streets next week in order to carry out a survey about how much information reaches the common citizen and how good it is. If you happen to be visiting, don’t be surprised if you come up against us. The results we’ll be available right here as soon as possible! We also intend to put up a fund raising campaign during December, some conferences at our school… and some other projects that you’ll end up knowing about through this blog.
Now, really big news! Since we went ambitious with the whole thing, we’ve decided to try making contact with António Damásio, a major name in our field of research who happens to be Portuguese too. Just google him up. Yes, he does live in the USA and our e-mail may never reach him but we can’t quit before trying. It may prove to be something impossible but just think of what could happen if we actually turn this idea into something real!
Stay tuned for the next updates and remember: keep using your brain cells, it still is the best way of fighting Alzheimer’s!
Cerebrum
